IONA Engineering Joins BBMP, SAFE, and Carbon Masters for Bengaluru's Integrated Waste-to-Value Park
IONA Engineering has partnered with BBMP, SAFE, and Carbon Masters to establish the Kannahalli Integrated Waste-to-Value Park in Bengaluru, which will utilize waste-to-energy technology and focus on biomethane production. The facility will process 25-35 tonnes of non-recyclable plastic daily, generating approximately 1 MW of renewable electricity, and eventually handle 900 tonnes of organic waste, producing biomethane and organic fertilizer. This initiative aims to reduce landfill waste and emissions, providing a model for sustainable waste management in Indian cities.

IONA Engineering has partnered with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Saatarem Alternative Fuel and Energy (SAFE), and Carbon Masters for the Kannahalli Integrated Waste-to-Value Park in Bengaluru. IONA will provide waste-to-energy technology, while SAFE serves as the concessionaire and Carbon Masters focuses on biomethane production.
The project includes large-scale Compressed Biogas (CBG) production and India's first single-use plastic-to-pyrolysis-to-power facility. IONA's system will process 25-35 tonnes per day of non-recyclable plastic waste, generating approximately 1 MW of renewable electricity for the park.
The facility is designed to eventually process 900 tonnes per day of organic waste, producing 30 tonnes of biomethane and 750 tonnes of organic fertilizer. This initiative aims to minimize landfill waste and emissions, offering a replicable model for waste management in Indian cities.
