JH-Computers has been pursuing funding for a district heating network in Stödtlen and Niederroden since 2019. The initiative plans to provide heat from the company's data center and a biogas-powered combined heat and power (CHP) plant, which will generate 2.5 million kilowatt-hours of heat each year.
While there is backing from the municipality and an appropriate heat supplier, the project is encountering financial obstacles, with total estimated costs ranging from 5 to 6 million euros. The company is requesting a supportive letter from local government to assist in securing the necessary funding, as the municipality has identified Stödtlen as a suitable location for the heating network.
