Kenya's EPRA Seeks New Director General Amid Energy Sector Developments
EPRA is recruiting a director general with significant management experience to enhance leadership in the energy sector. This role is critical for overseeing the regulation of energy utilities and operations, as Kenya expands its energy infrastructure.

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced the recruitment of a new director general, seeking applicants with a minimum of seven years in senior management and two years specifically in the petroleum and energy sectors. Interested candidates must apply by September 9, 2026, for a three-year contract, potentially renewable for another term.
The appointed director will oversee the regulation of electric power, petroleum, and renewable energy operations, ensuring compliance with governance standards. This recruitment coincides with Kenya's plans to develop six strategic electricity transmission lines, projected at Ksh71.1 billion ($550 million), aimed at strengthening the national grid and enhancing energy supply reliability. The feasibility studies for these projects are currently underway, indicating a significant shift in the energy landscape as the country seeks private investments.
