KfW IPEX-Bank Finances €79.3M for New Aggregate Carriers in Europe
KfW IPEX-Bank is financing €79.3 million for two new self-unloading bulk carriers designed for the construction-material supply chain in Northern Europe. The investment enhances logistical capacities, allowing efficient transport of aggregates, which is critical for the region's infrastructure development.

KfW IPEX-Bank is providing €79.3 million to finance two self-unloading bulk carriers with a capacity of 44,000 tonnes each, scheduled to enter service from September 2028. Owned by a joint venture between Hartmann Schiffsbeteiligungen and CSL Group, the vessels will be operated by Mibau Stema Shipping under long-term charter.
These ships will improve transport efficiency for aggregates across Northern and Western Europe, enhancing the network supported by Mibau Stema’s three quarries, which produce 17 million tonnes of crushed rock annually. The vessels will utilize dual-fuel propulsion systems capable of running on B100 biofuel and green methanol. This investment aligns with the shift towards more efficient maritime transport in construction materials logistics, bolstering an established supply chain rather than venturing into untested technologies.
