The City of Kimberley has officially commenced construction on a $90.6 million Wastewater Treatment Plant, marking a significant milestone after 17 years of preparation. Funding sources include over $36 million from the Federal Government, more than $30 million from the Province of B.C., and $24.1 million from local taxpayers.
This project, awarded through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP), aims to modernize the wastewater treatment system, improve environmental quality, and increase service capacity for the growing population. Completion is anticipated in fall 2028, addressing long-standing infrastructure needs and compliance with evolving regulatory standards. The project is critical for safeguarding local water sources and supporting Kimberley's development, reflecting a collaborative effort between various government levels.
