The Kochi Corporation's compressed biogas (CBG) plant at Brahmapuram, inaugurated on February 27 by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, will treat 150 tonnes of solid waste, generating 6 metric tonnes of CBG and 128 tonnes of organic manure for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). The project, funded by BPCL at an investment of ₹90 crore, includes two biodigesters and aims to address waste management within Kochi Corporation limits.

The Kochi Corporation's compressed biogas (CBG) plant at Brahmapuram is set to be inaugurated by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on February 27. The plant can treat 150 tonnes of source-segregated solid waste and is expected to produce nearly 6 metric tonnes of CBG and 128 tonnes of organic manure.
The CBG will be transported to BPCL's plant via a 3.2 km pipeline. The project, funded by BPCL with an investment of ₹90 crore, includes two biodigesters. Initial trial runs began in December 2025, and the plant aims to address local waste management needs, generating over 150 tonnes of waste per day.
