Lake Placid Advances Wastewater Treatment Infrastructure
Lake Placid's new advanced wastewater treatment plant is nearing completion, with sewer line installation underway. This facility aims to address nutrient pollution from aging septic systems, critical for lake health and preventing eutrophication.

The installation of sewer lines to Lake Placid's advanced wastewater treatment plant is in progress, led by KDL Underground and Development Inc. The plant, featuring two large carousels with a capacity to process one million gallons of sewage daily, aims to mitigate nutrient leaching from septic tanks, which is detrimental to local lakes.
Excess nitrogen and phosphorus can lead to eutrophication, resulting in harmful algae blooms. The new plant is expected to capture up to 97% of these nutrients. Currently, staff are undergoing OVIO training for the plant's operation and monitoring systems, with final repairs underway. No timeline has been provided for new sewer line installation for canal-side and lakeside homes.
