Lucknow Municipal Corporation to Act Against JBM Enviro for Delay in Biogas Plant Operations

BIOFUELS

The compressed biogas (CBG) and bio-fertiliser plant in Amausi, meant to inaugurate in November 2025, remains non-operational. The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) is preparing to take action against the private agency responsible for the delays.

The facility, developed by JBM Enviro Bio-Energy in collaboration with another agency, was designed to process 10 tonnes per day of organic waste into biogas and fertiliser. Despite LMC completing preparatory work and issuing a notice to the agency in December 2025, no response has been received regarding the delay.

The land for the project has been leased for 20 years, and it is expected to generate approximately ₹1.5 crore annually for the corporation. The civic body established a feedstock supply chain of 220 tonnes per day, including cow dung, market waste, pressmud, chicken litter, and Napier grass.
