The Malaysian government is advancing its electric vehicle (EV) strategies by enhancing policies and incentives in collaboration with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin highlighted the necessity of constructing additional power substations to support the growing need for direct current fast chargers.
The government is also focusing on targeted incentives for charging point operators and aims to incorporate charging facilities into new housing developments. Additionally, the government is addressing EV import regulations to ensure accurate valuation, implementing a minimum Cost, Insurance and Freight value to safeguard tax revenue. This comprehensive approach seeks to foster local assembly and supply chains while promoting consumer adoption of EVs.
