Malaysia to Expand B20 Biofuel Use for Ground Transportation at Kuala Lumpur Airport
Malaysia's Ministry of Plantation and Commodities announced plans to expand B20 biofuel usage—composed of 20% palm oil and 80% diesel—at Kuala Lumpur airport for ground transport, targeting zero carbon emissions by 2050. The success of this initiative will determine further expansions at other airports, pending funding and infrastructure.
The ministry is collaborating with transportation operators to facilitate the project. This is part of a broader effort to promote biofuels and support local agriculture while aligning with similar initiatives in BRICS nations. Indonesia and Vietnam are also advancing biofuel usage in transport, while the UAE is establishing a facility for environmentally friendly aviation fuel.
