Maltese Company to Launch Lunar BioVault on Moon Rover
Spaceomix, a Maltese space firm, partners with Space Applications Services to send a data vault to the Moon. This initiative aims to develop technologies that could enhance healthcare and scientific research in Malta.

Spaceomix is collaborating with Belgium's Space Applications Services to deploy a solid-state storage device, the Lunar BioVault, on the LUVMI-M lunar rover, which will explore the Moon's south pole for 10-14 days. This mission aligns with Malta's recent signing of the Artemis Accords and seeks to create a digital archive of genome data, educational resources, and public messages.
The project builds on previous Maltese initiatives, such as Project MALETH, focused on biomedical research aboard the ISS. The outcomes could improve scientific operations in harsh environments, benefiting various sectors including healthcare and emergency response in Malta.
