Mansfield Approves $1.26 Million in Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades
The Mansfield Board of Control approved contracts worth $1.26 million for wastewater treatment facility improvements. This initiative aims to ensure compliance with Ohio EPA discharge regulations, addressing long-standing environmental issues since 2015.

Mansfield's Board of Control has approved three contracts totaling $1.26 million to improve the city's wastewater treatment plant, which has been under scrutiny from the Ohio EPA since 2015. The contracts, awarded to American Structurepoint Inc., include $436,400 for a comprehensive plan to establish regulatory compliance and $771,200 for the design of new aeration blowers, critical for secondary treatment processes.
The existing blowers, installed in 1984, are insufficient, with only two operational. The new system is estimated to cost between $6 and $10 million. Past improvements from 2014 to 2018 failed to meet EPA standards, leading to significant non-compliance issues during the 2018-2023 permit cycle.
