The Mombasa county government has permanently closed the Manyimbo garbage collection point, improving air quality for Busy Bee School students. This site was among three shut down to enhance the city's cleanliness ranking, recently noted as the 18th cleanest in Africa.

Principal Dorothy Kaimuri reported that the dumpsite had caused health issues for students over the past two years. Tudor MCA Samir Bhaloo praised the closure and assured residents it would remain shut.

Mombasa’s environment chief Hamid Shehan confirmed the permanent closure, emphasizing the county's commitment to cleanliness. Additionally, two other sites have been closed, with a Material Recovery Facility established to manage waste effectively. The county aims to harness biogas from collected waste and encourages resident involvement in maintaining cleanliness.
