MSU Board to Vote on Budget and Expansion Projects in June Meeting
The MSU board will vote on the FY 2027 budget and a $27.7 million expansion project, including a renewable natural gas facility. This meeting occurs amid uncertainty regarding state funding and leadership transition following President Guskiewicz's planned departure.

The Michigan State University (MSU) board will convene in June to vote on the fiscal year 2027 budget and tuition rates, amidst pending finalization of public university budgets by the Michigan Legislature. A $27.7 million expansion of the anaerobic digester and the establishment of a renewable natural gas facility will also be considered, aimed at doubling the digester's capacity.
The project, approved in December 2025, is expected to be funded through long-term debt and federal tax incentives covering up to 40% of eligible costs. This board meeting will take place at an MSU Extension center in Benton Harbor, coinciding with a leadership transition as President Guskiewicz departs for Clemson University. Ongoing disputes regarding the board's revised code of ethics may influence proceedings.
