Muar LNG to Establish LNG Bunkering Hub at Maharani Freeport in Johor, Malaysia

NATURAL GASBIOFUELS

Muar LNG is developing an integrated LNG bunkering hub at the Maharani Freeport Industrial Park in Johor, Malaysia, strategically located 70 nautical miles from Singapore. The hub will consist of two berths: one for liquefied biomethane and another for conventional LNG.

Construction is scheduled from Q3 2026 to Q3 2027, with LNG bunkering services expected to launch by Q4 2027 and full services available by Q4 2030. The project aims to strengthen the LNG market in the Strait of Malacca, capitalizing on the growing demand for LNG as a bunker fuel, which rose by 30% in Singapore in January.
