National Space Agency of Singapore to Launch on April 1, 2026, Aiming to Enhance Local Space Tech Development
The National Space Agency of Singapore (NSAS) will commence operations on April 1, 2026, becoming the national authority for space activities. Its mandate includes fostering research and development, creating a multi-agency operations center, and establishing regulations for space technology. NSAS will take over functions from the Office for Space Technology and Industry (OSTIn), which will be folded into the new agency. The agency aims to strengthen Singapore's space ecosystem, manage satellite activities, and ensure compliance with international standards for space safety and sustainability.

Starting April 1, 2026, the National Space Agency of Singapore (NSAS) will operate as the national authority on space activities, integrating the functions of the Office for Space Technology and Industry (OSTIn). NSAS aims to foster research, develop a multi-agency operations center, and establish regulatory frameworks for space technology.
Over the past two decades, Singapore has launched more than 30 satellites, focusing on Earth observation, secure communications, and space debris management. The agency's initiatives will include streamlining access to grants for start-ups, promoting international partnerships, and ensuring compliance with international space safety standards. NSAS will also tackle the challenges of space congestion and advocate for legislation to enhance Singapore's position in the global space sector.
