New York Allocates $113 Million for Water Infrastructure Upgrades in Finger Lakes
New York State is investing $113 million for water infrastructure improvements, with significant funding for projects in Gorham and Penn Yan. These initiatives aim to modernize aging systems and address critical water quality issues such as contaminants and algal blooms.

New York State has approved $113 million in grants and low-cost financing for water and sewer infrastructure projects, targeting communities including Gorham and Penn Yan. Gorham will receive $11.8 million to convert its water treatment facility into an ultrafiltration plant to combat algal blooms and PFAS contaminants.
Meanwhile, Penn Yan has secured $83,625 for enhancements to its wastewater treatment plant. The funding, facilitated by the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation, aims to alleviate financial pressure on local ratepayers while improving water quality and infrastructure across the state. This investment is crucial as it addresses rising concerns regarding water safety and supports local economies.
