Nigeria Signs $329M Electricity Transmission Deal with CMEC
The Nigerian Federal Government has formalized a $328.8 million contract with China Machinery Engineering Corporation to enhance the nation's electricity transmission infrastructure. This initiative is part of the Presidential Power Initiative aimed at improving grid reliability and facilitating power delivery to end-users.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has signed a contract worth $328.8 million with China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) for the rehabilitation and expansion of electricity transmission networks. This Phase 1 of the Presidential Power Initiative includes the construction of 544 kilometers of 330kV and 132kV transmission lines to support a load capacity of 7,140 megawatts.
Managed by FGN Power Company, the project aims to address inefficiencies in the power value chain and ensure reliable electricity delivery. The collaboration with CMEC complements ongoing efforts with Siemens Energy, indicating a strategic approach to enhancing Nigeria's power infrastructure, crucial for economic growth.
