North Platte Council Approves $6M for Wastewater Treatment, Discusses Legacy Point Development
The North Platte city council approved an additional $6 million for the industrial wastewater treatment plant, boosting capacity for Sustainable Beef. Discussions on the Legacy Point area include a paving district and potential new public facilities, highlighting financial implications for the city.

The North Platte city council has authorized an additional $6 million payment for the industrial wastewater treatment plant, which services Sustainable Beef. This follows a prior payment of $12 million for the plant's initial construction, with costs covered by user fees from the industry.
The capacity for Sustainable Beef is projected to increase from 1,500 to 1,800 head per day. Concurrently, the council is establishing a paving district for Francis St. in the Legacy Point area, with a $2.8 million contract awarded for paving.
Concerns were raised regarding financial risk and potential development plans, including a new public library and community facilities. The council approved the paving district plan on a 6-1 vote, pending further agreements.
