OBIWAN Project Converts Organic Waste to Chemical Building Blocks with EU Funding

The OBIWAN Interreg FWVL Project aims to convert organic waste, such as agricultural residues, into biogas and subsequently into chemical building blocks, including hydrogen, solid carbon, and methanol. These components can serve as raw materials for advanced chemicals and sustainable aviation fuels.

Catalisti is an associated partner, focusing on communication and dissemination of project results, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and supporting research activities. Biogas is generated through anaerobic digestion and will be refined into valuable building blocks using carbon-neutral processes. The project, with a total cost of 2.6 million euros, is 60% funded by the European Regional Development Fund through Interreg France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen, with additional funding from Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship and the Province of East Flanders.
