Odisha Launches Green Hydrogen Policy to Boost Renewable Energy Investments
Odisha becomes the first Indian state to announce a Green Hydrogen Policy, aiming to drive substantial investments in renewable energy. This initiative aligns with the Confederation of Indian Industry's goals for industrial decarbonization and a circular economy.

Odisha has introduced a Green Hydrogen Policy, marking it as the first state in India to do so. This initiative aims to stimulate investments in renewable energy, particularly in green hydrogen production, with the objective of establishing Odisha as a clean energy innovation hub.
The state's focus includes disaster-resilient infrastructure, distribution sector reforms, and projects such as floating solar installations and Pumped Storage Projects (PSP) integrated with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The Confederation of Indian Industry supports this move, highlighting its potential to reduce the industrial carbon footprint through carbon capture from flue gases. Key stakeholders attended a meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, including officials from the Energy Department and other relevant organizations.
