PCMC's Moshi Waste-to-Energy Plant Converts 1,000 Tonnes of Waste Daily into 14 MW Power

BIOFUELS

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's waste-to-energy plant in Moshi processes nearly 1,000 tonnes of solid waste daily to generate up to 14 megawatts (MW) of electricity, significantly reducing landfill reliance. The facility treats non-recyclable dry waste using a controlled thermal process.

Approximately 2 MW of generated power is used for in-house operations, while the remainder is supplied to municipal utilities. The plant utilizes automated systems for combustion and performance regulation and features continuous emission monitoring for environmental compliance.

Efficient operations depend on effective waste segregation at the source, with door-to-door collection and mechanical sorting at the plant. PCMC plans to build a second waste-to-energy plant with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes per day (TPD) and 27 MW, along with additional facilities for biogas and biochar production.
