Poland's PGB and Hekla Energy Sign Major Biogas Power Agreement
A strategic agreement between Polska Grupa Biogazowa and Hekla Energy will add over 200GWh of biogas-generated electricity to Poland's grid, enhancing energy security and supporting EU energy transition objectives. This collaboration underscores the significance of biogas in achieving low-emission energy systems in Europe.

Polska Grupa Biogazowa (PGB) and Hekla Energy have finalized a strategic agreement to trade over 200GWh of electricity generated from biogas in the first year. This volume represents more than 15% of Poland's agricultural biogas electricity production and leverages PGB's 21 biogas plants, which have a total capacity of 22.5MW.
The collaboration aims to optimize electricity sales and enhance energy security while supporting the EU's energy transition initiatives. The partnership may also help mitigate the impact of negative electricity prices on producers, potentially increasing annual revenues by several million PLN.
