Port of Açu and Van Oord Collaborate on Sustainable Dredging Initiatives Using Biofuel

During COP30 Brazil, the Port of Açu in Rio de Janeiro and Van Oord announced a collaboration on sustainable initiatives, including the use of biofuel for dredging access channels. Beginning in 2026, operations will be powered by renewable fuel, marking a first in Brazil.

This initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions and supports the decarbonisation goals of both the port and Van Oord. The agreement enhances Van Oord's activities in Brazil and showcases the potential of renewable fuels to lower emissions in maritime operations.
