Prague Approves 150 EV-Ready Street Lamps for Charging Network Expansion
Prague City Council has launched a project to install 150 EV-ready street lamps to support future electric vehicle charging needs. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to facilitate the anticipated rise in electric vehicle usage, with an estimate of 180,000 EVs by 2030.

The City of Prague plans to invest approximately 100 million Czech koruna (around €4.1 million) to install 150 EV-ready street lamps in collaboration with Technologie hl. m. Prahy and PREdistribuce. As projected, around 4,500 charging stations will be necessary to meet the demand of up to 180,000 electric vehicles by 2030, as outlined in the city's general development plan.
The EV-ready lamps will be strategically placed to align with existing power grid upgrades, ensuring cost efficiency in the construction of charging infrastructure. This project highlights the city's commitment to enhancing e-mobility while minimizing barriers to implementation.
