Proposal for 110 kV Substation in Thamarassery, Kozhikode
In response to rising electricity demand and frequent outages in Thamarassery, Koduvally, and Omassery, calls for a new 110 kV substation have intensified. The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) emphasizes that this infrastructure is crucial for improving power quality and reliability for approximately 70,000 consumers in the region.

Calls for a new 110 kV substation in Thamarassery, Kozhikode district, have escalated due to frequent power disruptions and increasing electricity demand. The existing infrastructure is under pressure from rising single-phase and three-phase connections, affecting service quality for nearly 70,000 consumers.
Currently, the Thamarassery KSEB Substation, located in Perumpally, serves the area with only three feeders, which are often overloaded and unreliable, particularly during monsoon seasons. Discussions for establishing both a 110 kV substation in Thamarassery and a 33 kV substation in Koduvally are ongoing. The KSEB has conducted land surveys to facilitate these projects, which aim to enhance power supply reliability in this developing region.
