Pune Municipal Corporation Unveils Multi-Sector Budget for 2026-27 Focusing on Education, Infrastructure, and Tourism
The Pune Municipal Corporation has proposed a comprehensive budget for 2026-27 that spans multiple sectors including education, infrastructure, water supply, waste management, and tourism. Key initiatives include upgrading 75 schools, establishing an independent revenue committee, enhancing disaster management and fire services, and implementing a zero-waste waste management strategy. Significant investments in solar energy, tourism infrastructure, and healthcare are also outlined, aiming to position Pune as a global capability hub and enhance living standards across the city.

Energy efficiency will improve with 4,000 new electric poles and 75,000 LED streetlights. Tourism projects like the Bharat Mandapam-style convention center and a ropeway at Sarasbaug are proposed. The budget also targets zero waste through biogas plants and improved waste systems, while water supply and sewage management reforms are planned, including the equal water supply scheme and river rejuvenation projects.
