The Queensland government has announced an $80 million investment in the $291 million Scenic Rim Agricultural Industrial Precinct in Kalbar. This bioenergy hub, led by Kalfresh, will convert agricultural waste into renewable energy and bio-fertilizers.
The facility will use anaerobic digestion to produce enough energy for 31,000 homes and reduce reliance on synthetic fertilizers. Over 1,000 jobs will be created, including 641 during construction and 475 permanent positions. Construction has begun, with the first energy flow expected by mid-2027.
