Queensland Invests $80 Million in Scenic Rim Bioenergy Hub to Convert Agricultural Waste into Energy
Queensland's government, through the Queensland Investment Corporation and Wollemi Capital, is investing $80 million in the Scenic Rim Agricultural Industrial Precinct. This $291 million bioenergy hub in Kalbar will transform agricultural waste into renewable energy and bio-fertilizers, creating over 1,000 jobs and enhancing regional energy security. The facility will produce enough energy to power 31,000 homes annually and reduce reliance on synthetic fertilizers.

The Queensland government has announced an $80 million investment in the $291 million Scenic Rim Agricultural Industrial Precinct in Kalbar. This bioenergy hub, led by Kalfresh, will convert agricultural waste into renewable energy and bio-fertilizers.
The facility will use anaerobic digestion to produce enough energy for 31,000 homes and reduce reliance on synthetic fertilizers. Over 1,000 jobs will be created, including 641 during construction and 475 permanent positions. Construction has begun, with the first energy flow expected by mid-2027.
