Roadstone Proposes Anaerobic Digestion Plant at Killough Quarry, Co Tipperary
Roadstone has proposed an anaerobic digestion plant at Killough quarry in Co Tipperary, which will process various feedstocks, including chicken manure and cattle slurry, to produce biomethane for decarbonizing operations. The second public consultation addressed local concerns, particularly regarding the plant's location and traffic impacts, while ongoing engagement with objectors continues. The facility aims to enhance efficiency using the Antec system and plans to export surplus gas.

Roadstone is proposing an anaerobic digestion (AD) plant at Killough quarry in Co Tipperary, requiring 15,000t of chicken manure, 20,000t of cattle slurry, 60,000t of grass silage, and others as feedstock. The second public consultation involved Roadstone and partners Utopia and Climaticus, addressing local concerns.
The facility aims to decarbonize operations by producing biomethane to replace diesel and LNG, with surplus gas for export. The planned plant will utilize the Antec system for improved efficiency. Engagement with local objectors is ongoing, with concerns raised about location and traffic impacts.
