BIOFUELSSUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL

Sabah is backing the establishment of the Southeast Asia Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Council headquarters in Kota Kinabalu, aiming to position the state as a regional hub for sustainable aviation fuel policies. Invest Sabah Berhad chairman Datuk Roger Chin announced an interest from Petra Seaga to invest approximately USD300 million (RM1.4 billion) in a biorefinery complex that will utilize agricultural and forestry biomass to produce SAF, biofuels, and bioplastics.

Chin emphasized that all projects must comply with commercial, regulatory, and sustainability standards. Additionally, he outlined Sabah's transition from a resource-based economy to one focused on downstream processing and sustainable energy. The state is also set to host a business event forum on February 4-5, 2026, to enhance its competitiveness in the Asia Pacific region.
