Seepex Expands Pump Technology to Enhance European Biogas Production
Seepex has expanded its BTEX and BN pump ranges to bolster the European biogas and biomethane sector, targeting a production goal of 35 billion cubic meters by 2030 under the REPowerEU program. The new pumps, designed for high-capacity technology, enhance substrate pretreatment and improve biogas yield, while a successful implementation in Sweden demonstrates their effectiveness in optimizing operations and reducing costs. This initiative supports Europe's shift towards sustainable energy solutions.

Seepex has expanded its BTEX and BN pump ranges to support the European biogas and biomethane sector, which aims for 35 billion cubic meters of biomethane production by 2030 under the REPowerEU program. As of 2023, the EU's biogas and biomethane production is estimated at 22 billion cubic meters, with biomethane contributing 5 billion cubic meters.
The new pump sizes range from 5 to 160 m³/h, addressing the need for high-capacity technology for diverse substrates. Seepex's pumps enhance substrate pretreatment, reduce maintenance downtime, and improve biogas yield, essential for efficient biogas production.
The company’s technology has been successfully implemented in a project with Karlskoga Energi in Sweden, optimizing operations and reducing costs. Seepex aims to support Europe's transition to sustainable energy with advanced pump solutions.
