Shan State Implements 46 Mini Hydropower Projects
Shan State is advancing 46 small power plant projects, including coal, biofuel, and solar energy, under a government initiative. The focus on transparency in environmental assessments is set to enhance public trust in these developments.

The Shan State Government has initiated 46 small power plant projects, including coal, biofuel, and solar facilities. Minister of Electricity, Energy and Industry, Sai Shan Tit Lone, confirmed this during the 16th Shan State Regular Meeting, responding to concerns about project transparency raised by MP Sai Lin Myat.
An MoU has been signed to facilitate these projects, with plans for improved transparency in environmental and social impact assessments (EIA/SIA) to be made public. Increased scrutiny and transparency in these assessments could mitigate potential environmental risks and foster community support for renewable energy initiatives.
