Sicamous Council Awards $1 Million Wastewater Treatment Upgrade Contract
The District of Sicamous has awarded a $947,068 contract to Sicamous Concrete and Gravel for materials in a $2.1 million wastewater treatment plant upgrade. The project, driven by a 10% increase in peak flows over the last three summers, includes the construction of a fourth rapid infiltration basin and rehabilitation of two existing ones.

Sicamous council has awarded a $947,068 contract to Sicamous Concrete and Gravel for materials needed in a $2.1 million upgrade to the wastewater treatment plant. The District anticipates taking on debt to finance this project, which is essential due to a 10% year-over-year increase in peak flows during the summer tourist season.
Currently, the district operates three rapid infiltration basins (RIBs) and aims to construct a fourth while rehabilitating two existing ones. An RFP for additional work is expected to be presented at the next council meeting, with construction planned to start this summer. Rising construction material costs are a significant factor in the overall expense, which is projected to exceed initial estimates.
