Sindh Government Reviews Sanitation System Proposals Across Districts
A high-level meeting in Sindh focused on proposals for a new sanitation system across all districts, introducing three operational models aimed at sustainability. The initiative is critical for improving public health and environmental safety in the region.

The Sindh government is advancing plans for an improved sanitation system across all districts, as discussed in a meeting led by Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah. Three operational models were proposed: Hybrid Model, Hybrid Plus Model, and Local Model, aimed at enhancing solid waste management services beyond major cities.
The proposed projects will span 3+1 or 4+1 years, with tailored machinery and workforce to optimize costs and resources. Discussions included the allocation of landfill sites in various districts and the progress of the Jam Chakro landfill site, which is expected to yield $20 million in carbon credits.
The Minister emphasized legal actions against illegal waste disposal and directed enhanced monitoring and public participation strategies. The effectiveness of these proposals could significantly impact public health and environmental management in Sindh.
