Southern Water Invests £30 Million in Thanet Water Network Enhancements
Southern Water is allocating over £30 million for upgrades to Thanet's water network within five years, enhancing supply reliability. Key improvements include nitrate treatment, disinfection upgrades, and modernized systems to ensure high-quality drinking water for Kent customers.

Southern Water plans to invest over £30 million in Thanet's drinking water network over the next five years. The program includes a £16 million initiative for nitrate treatment, £3 million for disinfection process upgrades, and a £4 million program for faster recovery after incidents.
Additionally, around 30 kilometers of aging water mains will be replaced, along with 36 kilometers of pipework in Kent to reduce leakage. This effort is part of a broader £8.5 billion investment plan, with £1.2 billion allocated to Kent. This upgrade is critical as Southern Water aims to mitigate past supply interruptions and meet increasing demand during hotter summers.
