Spanish LNG Bunker Sales Exceed 8.1 TWh in 2025, Quadrupling from 2023
Spain's LNG bunker sales exceeded 8.1 TWh in 2025, a more than fourfold increase from 2023, driven by the rise in LNG-powered vessels and improved bunkering infrastructure. Biomethane accounted for over 12% of total sales, while Portugal reported 342 GWh of LNG supply through 13 operations, primarily via ship-to-ship deliveries. This growth positions Spanish ports as significant hubs for alternative fuel supply.

Spain's LNG bunker sales surpassed 8.1 TWh in 2025, marking a more than fourfold increase from two years prior, according to Gasnam. Biomethane contributed over 12% of the total sales. In comparison, Portugal recorded 342 GWh of LNG bunker supply through 13 operations, primarily via ship-to-ship deliveries at Sines. The growth in LNG sales is attributed to an increase in LNG-powered ships in the international fleet and the enhancement of bunkering infrastructure, establishing Spanish ports as key hubs for alternative fuel supply.
