Spiras Chairman Criticizes Kvælstofaftale at New Year's Event
Poul Christensen, Chairman of Spiras, criticized the Kvælstofaftale at a New Year's event, labeling it as skewed and unfairly placing the burden of environmental costs on agriculture. He emphasized that while the agricultural sector supports the green transition, it should not disproportionately bear these costs, and noted that the Landbrug & Fødevarer organization was not involved in the agreement. Christensen called for adjustments to ensure a fair distribution of responsibilities, highlighting the sector's contributions to food production and technological advancements.

Poul Christensen, Chairman of Spiras, criticized the Kvælstofaftale at a New Year's event in Agerskov-Hallen attended by 700 participants. He described the agreement as skewed and unreasonable, emphasizing that the burden of environmental costs repeatedly falls on agriculture, undermining trust.
Christensen stated that while the agricultural sector supports the green transition, it should not bear the costs disproportionately. He noted that the Landbrug & Fødevarer organization is not part of the Kvælstofaftale, which was negotiated among political parties in a green tripartite agreement.
Spiras aims to ensure that Danish farmers do not solely bear the costs of the green transition and advocates for adjustments to agreements if they prove overly burdensome. He highlighted the sector's achievements in delivering healthy food and advancing technologies like biogas, while acknowledging the challenges ahead and the importance of unity in facing them.
