Spitfire Energy Proposes Anaerobic Digestion Facility in Kent to Supply Gas to 7,000 Homes
Spitfire Energy Ltd has submitted plans for a new anaerobic digestion facility (ADF) at Great Cauldham Farm in Capel-le-Ferne, Kent, aiming to supply gas for 7,000 homes annually. The facility will process organic waste, such as silage and manure, converting it into biogas upgraded to biomethane for the national gas network.
A pipeline will connect the digester to the local gas service pipe. The development, following a public consultation by parent company Greenacre Energy Ltd, is designed to align with sustainable development goals and support low-carbon energy generation.
Approximately 700 ADFs currently operate in the UK. The planning documents assert that the facility will not adversely impact the Kent Downs National Landscape and will minimize the loss of high-quality farmland.
