Stena Line Completes Acquisition of Wasaline, Enhancing Ferry Operations between Sweden and Finland
Stena Line's acquisition of Wasaline was officially completed in a ceremony in Umeå. The transaction, announced on November 4, 2025, allows Stena Line to operate the ferry service between Umeå and Vaasa. The operation will retain the Wasaline brand with minor adjustments, and the vessel Aurora Botnia will continue to operate on the route. This acquisition strengthens transport links between Sweden and Finland, with the Aurora Botnia ferry offering 20-26 weekly departures powered by biogas and batteries.

Following approvals from city councils and regulatory bodies, Wasaline will now operate under Stena Line while retaining its brand. The ferry Aurora Botnia will continue its service with 20-26 weekly departures, utilizing biogas and battery power, marking it as the first international Green Shipping Corridor. This acquisition aims to strengthen transport links crucial for regional business and security.
