Stenergy Proposes £30 Million Anaerobic Digestion Facility in Worcestershire Amid Public Opposition
Stenergy (Worcester) Limited's proposed £30 million Anaerobic Digestion Facility in Worcestershire has faced significant public opposition during its consultation period. The project, intended to convert 48,500 tonnes of food waste annually into biomethane gas, has raised concerns among residents and local authorities regarding odors, traffic, and overall quality of life, leading Worcestershire County Council to recommend deferring the proposal for further impact assessment.

The consultation for Stenergy (Worcester) Limited's proposed Anaerobic Digestion Facility at Court Farm, Hindlip Lane, has concluded, facing significant public opposition. The £30 million project aims to convert 48,500 tonnes of food waste annually into biomethane gas, in compliance with UK regulations mandating waste diversion from landfill by 2026.
Residents have raised concerns about potential odors, traffic increases, and overall impact on quality of life. Local authorities, including West Mercia Police and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, have objected, and Worcestershire County Council has recommended deferring the proposal until more information is provided on its impact on local highways.
The project would include the construction of new buildings, tanks, and infrastructure. Opposition from local councils highlights difficulties in assessing the extensive documentation submitted by Stenergy.
