Stream BioEnergy Plans Multi-Million Euro Anaerobic Digestion Facility in County Monaghan
Stream BioEnergy Ireland Limited has proposed a multi-million euro anaerobic digestion facility in County Monaghan, designed to process 99,000 tonnes of poultry manure annually and convert it into biomethane. The project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 42,000 tonnes CO2 equivalent per year and will include various infrastructure improvements, including local road enhancements to accommodate increased traffic. The facility is set to operate under an EPA Industrial Emissions Licence and connect to the national gas transmission network.

Stream BioEnergy Ireland Limited has submitted plans for a multi-million euro anaerobic digestion facility in County Monaghan, near the border with County Cavan. The proposed 10-year renewable biogas plant will be located on approximately 6.2 hectares and aims to address poultry manure management, processing around 99,000 tonnes annually.
The facility plans to convert biodegradable materials into biomethane, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 42,000 tonnes CO2 equivalent per year. The project will include various buildings for administration, processing, and storage, and is expected to connect to the national gas transmission network at Cootehill.
Local road improvements are also planned to accommodate increased HGV traffic, with consultations confirming water supply feasibility. The facility will operate under an EPA Industrial Emissions Licence.
