SUEZ to Manage Hérault Méditerranée Water Services with €55 Million Investment from Banque des Territoires
Starting July 3, 2026, SUEZ will operate the drinking water, sewerage, and sanitation services for Hérault Méditerranée Urban Community for 15 years, supported financially by Banque des Territoires. This initiative highlights investments in energy transition and water resource preservation in a coastal area facing water stress.
The Posidonia wastewater treatment plant will receive a €14 million investment for an anaerobic digester, expected to produce 3.6 GWh of biomethane annually from 2029, equivalent to the consumption of 570 households. The contract prioritizes treated wastewater reuse, with plans to recycle up to 600,000 m³ yearly.
SUEZ will continue to serve 18,000 users and implement smart meters for remote reading by 2026. Nearly €55 million will be invested to enhance sustainable water management and improve network efficiency to over 91% by the contract’s end.
