Sumitomo and Cemvita Partner for Biomethane and Bio-Oil Projects in Brazil
Sumitomo Corporation do Brasil and Cemvita Inc. have signed an MOU to develop integrated biomethane and renewable bio-oil projects in Brazil. The bio-oil will serve as a precursor for sustainable aviation fuel. The partnership will evaluate the integration of Cemvita's FermOil technology with renewable natural gas production at an initial facility, assessing five waste feedstocks. A joint steering committee will oversee the project, with a roadmap targeting execution in 2026.

Sumitomo Corporation do Brasil and Cemvita Inc. have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop integrated biomethane and renewable bio-oil projects in Brazil. The partnership aims to integrate Cemvita's FermOil bio-oil technology with renewable natural gas (RNG) production at an initial facility, evaluating five waste feedstocks for simultaneous fuel production.
The project will be overseen by a joint steering committee, targeting execution in 2026. The collaboration seeks to enhance the supply of waste-based feedstock for sustainable aviation fuel while generating RNG.
