Pakistan's Suthra Punjab initiative has gained international recognition for its innovative waste-to-value approach, attracting interest from Chinese investors and technology partners. Under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the initiative has been formalized as the Suthra Punjab Authority, led by Babar Sahib Din.

The authority aims to enhance sanitation and waste management for nearly 130 million residents through digitized operations and performance-based contracts. It is exploring waste-to-energy technologies from China and Japan, with Chinese and UK companies expressing interest in developing power plants.

The program promotes public-private partnerships, focusing on clean energy, job creation, and improved public health. Punjab's leadership emphasizes the initiative's economic benefits, including biogas plants for local gas and bio-fertilizers. The initiative positions Punjab as a model for sustainable urban governance, attracting global attention.
