Taurus Canada Receives $10M Grant for Innovative Carbon Capture and Renewable Natural Gas Facility in Alberta
Taurus Canada Renewable Natural Gas Corp. has been awarded a $10 million grant from the Alberta government to build an integrated anaerobic digestion and carbon sequestration facility in Coaldale, Alberta. The facility will convert 130,000 tonnes of livestock manure into 360,000 gigajoules of renewable natural gas annually, enough to power approximately 4,500 homes. The project, in partnership with KCL Cattle Company and Kasko Cattle Co., is expected to be operational by January 2028 and is part of a larger $28 million investment in renewable technology initiatives in Alberta.

Taurus Canada Renewable Natural Gas Corp. will construct a first-of-its-kind facility in Coaldale, Alberta, funded by a $10 million grant from the Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) program. This facility will utilize anaerobic digestion to convert 130,000 tonnes of livestock manure into 360,000 gigajoules of renewable natural gas (RNG) each year, sufficient to power about 4,500 homes.
The project aims to capture and sequester biogenic CO2, significantly reducing emissions. Construction will start in summer 2026, and operations are expected to begin in January 2028. The initiative is part of a broader $28 million investment in six projects aimed at enhancing energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in Alberta.
