Thailand Launches UGT2 Program to Enhance Corporate Access to Renewable Energy
Thailand's Energy Regulatory Commission has launched the Utility Green Tariff program (UGT2) to support businesses in accessing renewable energy. Targeting large industrial and commercial consumers, UGT2 focuses on electricity from new renewable projects expected to commence between 2024 and 2030, including solar, wind, and biogas. The program includes Renewable Energy Certificates to ensure transparency. Pricing is set at approximately 4.56 Thai Baht per kilowatt-hour, offering long-term price stability and a fixed contract period of 10 years, aiding Thailand's transition to a sustainable energy future.
