Thornfield Energy Ltd Plans Expansion of Biogas Plant Near Telford
Thornfield Energy Ltd aims to increase biogas production capacity from 106,000 to 130,000 tonnes of food waste annually. This expansion is expected to create eight new jobs and result in additional HGV traffic on local roads.

Thornfield Energy Ltd is seeking to enhance its biogas production capabilities at Barnes Farm, Rowton, by increasing food waste processing capacity from 106,000 to 130,000 tonnes annually. A planning application has been submitted to Telford & Wrekin Council for the construction of a new waste reception building and modifications to the existing 10,250 square metre facility.
The expansion is anticipated to generate up to 291 HGV loads weekly, resulting in an increase of 18 to 19 daily HGV movements. The plant is projected to produce 13 million cubic metres of biogas each year. This growth reflects the impact of new regulations mandating domestic food waste collection, leading to additional contracts and job creation.
