Tipperary County Council Rejects Anaerobic Digester Facility Application in Ballynilard

BIOFUELS

Tipperary County Council has rejected a planning application for an Anaerobic Digestor Facility in Ballynilard, submitted by a local farmer and Nephin Renewable Gas on January 19. The Council deemed the application invalid after the landowner withdrew permission.

Concerns included insufficient traffic information and inadequate details in the Environmental Impact Assessment regarding the discharge of 71,000 litres of wastewater into the River Arra. The Council outlined that future applications must explore alternative locations, address environmental issues, and secure approval from Gas Networks Ireland for gas line connections. The Ballynilard Bio Gas Concern Group thanked the community for their input, while Nephin Renewable Gas aims to advance Ireland's biomethane sector.
