Transource Pennsylvania is pursuing state approval for the Rice-Ringgold Transmission Line, a $113 million initiative spanning 29 miles in Franklin County. This project involves connecting Maryland to a proposed substation near Shippensburg, passing through communities such as Waynesboro and Mont Alto.
Approval from Maryland commissioners has been granted, while Transource awaits a decision from the Pennsylvania Utility Commission. Should the project receive the necessary approval, construction is set to commence next year. The project is expected to alleviate grid congestion and facilitate the distribution of lower-cost electricity.
