Uttar Pradesh to Establish Biogas and Bio-CNG Plant in Mathura
Uttar Pradesh plans a Biogas and Bio-CNG facility in Mathura, set to boost rural energy production and cattle welfare. This project, supported by a partnership with the FAO, aims to create a circular economy through sustainable agriculture practices.

The Uttar Pradesh Government is establishing a Biogas and Bio-CNG production plant in Mathura, covering approximately 1,400 acres. This initiative involves a partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to enhance energy production, cattle nutrition, and farmer livelihoods.
The facility will utilize cow dung from local goshalas and agricultural residues, promoting a waste-to-wealth model. The project will also contribute to the state's cattle conservation efforts and provide a revenue stream through commercial Bio-CNG sales.
Additionally, a new Veterinary College is planned in Gorakhpur, with potential for a similar initiative. This project aligns with the state's focus on clean energy, rural employment, and environmental management.
